Alcohols
Alcohols are used in downstream production processes like surface coatings in the building materials or automotive sectors and for the production of ink products, fuel additives and detergent products.
Applications for alcohols also include: lacquers and paints, polymer additives, lubricants, solvents and disinfectants. Our alcohols are prepared by reacting syn gas, a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, with an olefin followed by hydrogenation to the corresponding alcohol.
Major commercially used oxo alcohols include 2-ethyl hexanol (2EH), n-propanol, n-butanol, isobutanol, isononanol and isononyl alcohol.
Benefits
Oxo alcohols are versatile and safe solvents in a broad range of applications.
